Therese James

Therese James is a self-taught artist and a member of the Naive School who has been painting professionally since 1993. She has developed her own inimitable style in part because she has had no formal training and her instinctive approach is always from the heart.

Her native Wales and The West Country provide inspiration for her paintings each one telling a story enriched in emotion of the places she has visited and of the people she has known.

Hiraeth, a Welsh word meaning 'longing for home' is what ignites her passion to paint and she is currently working on a new series which examines the communities during the 1984 miner's strike.
